Summer School runs from 27th November 2017 to 8th Feb 2018 (10 weeks).

When enrolling in a Summer School Online unit, please ensure that you use the letter code ‘S’ at the end of the unit code. For example OT301S or TH503DS. This will ensure that you are enrolled in the Summer School Online version of the unit.

This unit gives students an overview of the Pentateuch and historical books. This includes creation, the patriarchs in Israel’s faith, Abrahamic and mosaic, conquest and settlement, the rise of the monarchy and the covenant with David, and concludes with Solomon and the division of the Kingdom. Particular emphasis is placed on familiarity with the contents of the Old Testament itself, which in many cases is read against its Ancient Near Eastern background.

This unit is designed to provide a single semester overview of theology , for students who require only ONE unit of Theology for their award (eg Grad.Dip.Div.). It covers the central doctrines of Christian faith, following the outline given in the Creeds. [Please note this unit cannot be taken by a student who has completed (or is required to complete) any of the TH401-401 or TH601-604 units]

Dates: 27 November 2017 – 8 February (10 weeks)
Intensive Dates: 23rd & 24th January (Please contact Morling Online if attendance at this intensive would not be possible)

This unit seeks to introduce students to the basic perspectives and the competencies they will need to work effectively as chaplains. It focuses on chaplaincy skills and practices, especially in the areas of mental health, referrals and holistic care. The emphasis is on what chaplains are expected to know and be able to do in mental health management rather than on the biblical basis and theology of chaplaincy. Students taking this unit will normally have completed a foundation level unit in Pastoral Care. This unit meets the government requirements for Chaplain accreditation.
This unit requires 20 hours of practical experience as part of the assessment criteria.

This unit explores important themes and trends in global theology and World Christianity such as: mission, liberation, hospitality, Spirit, creation-care, ethics, leadership, community, biblical interpretation, spirituality, and discipleship. The unit also studies the expansion of Christianity in the Majority World, and the implications for global theology and World Christianity.
